Four teams remain in title contention at women’s national clubchamps
Saturday March 25th 2006

After four days of play there are only four teams left in contention
forthe title at the New Zealand Community Trust Women’s National
ClubChampionships.

Round robin play in the tournament at Foundation Park, Christchurchwrapped
up today and of the 16 who started the tournament on Thursdayonly
four will go through to the championship semi finals tomorrow.

In the semi finals the unbeaten Auckland Marist will take on
Northcotewhile the defending champions Te Aroha will play Wainui.


Auckland Marist and Te Aroha are both unbeaten after round robin
play andare the hot favourites to go through to the final tomorrow
afternoon.

The defending champions Te Aroha maintained their unbeaten run
to daywith a comfortable 5-0 win over Stoke Nelson and a 8-2
win over fellowsemi finalists Northcote. 

Auckland Marist secured their top qualifying spot with two wins
today 4-0over Albion and 1-0 against Miramar. 

The tightest race to make the semi finals came in section B where
goinginto the final day of round robin play today there were
four teams incontention for just one semi final spot. Wainui
secured the finalqualifying spot on the back of two wins today
9-6 over Melville and 5-4against Albion with that game going
to a tie breaker. 

The crucial play in that game came in the top of the eighth inning
whenWainui picked up two wins in the top of the inning while
Albion couldmanage just the one.
