GAMES 65-66

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ISC Eastern Canada Travel League

at Duncan McLellan Park, Owen Sound

The Orillia Riversharks and the Niagara Snappers split their
doubleheader.

The Snappers won the opener 1-0 on a 1 hit shutout from Byron
Demoe.

In the top of the 6th, Snappers infielder Jay Paylove walked,
advanced to
second on a wild pitch and then scored the lone run of the game
on an r.b.i.
single from outfielder Scott Young.

Demoe struck out 9 batters in posting the shutout, giving up
just one single
to Riversharks third baseman Matt Kuhl.

Kuhl was one of 5 members of the Owen Sound Select Midgets who
were called
up by the Riversharks for the match.

Frank Cox took the loss for Orillia, giving up 4 hits and striking
out 7 in
a complete game effort.

In game 2, the Snappers grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the first
when Young
drilled a 2 run triple.

However, in the bottom of the second, Mike Taylor tied it for
the
Riversharks with an r.b.i. single. Taylor was caught in a rundown
after his
hit and the length of the rundown allowed the second Orillia
run to score.

In the third, Niagara took a 3-2 lead on a solo homer by shortstop
Trevor
Falk over the left field fence.

Again, the Riversharks would tie the affair in the bottom of
the third.
Centerfielder Steve Mullaly beat out an infield hit with 2 on
to tie the
score at 3.

Orillia blew the game open with 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th.

Both starter Rob O'Brien and shortstop Brent Thompson had 2 run
triples to
highlight the surge.

In the 6th, O'Brien had another r.b.i. to finish the game and
give the
Riversharks a 9-3 victory.

With the doubleheader split, Orillia is now 28-5 & 1 overall
on the season.
