International Softball Federation Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

 

(Surrey, BC) - The International Softball Federation (ISF) held
an induction ceremony during the Canada Cup to induct Dale McMann,
Terry Baytor and Lori Sippel on July 8th, 2006.

 

ISF President, Don Porter was on hand during the Canada Cup to
formally induct Dale McMann (Administrator Category), Terri Baytor
(Coach Category) and Lori Sippel (Player Category) into the International
Softball Federation Hall of Fame.

 

Dale McMann (Prince George, BC) was elected as ISF Vice President
for North America in 1993, a position he still holds today. 
He is a former President of Softball Canada for 12 years and
a Past President of Softball BC.  Dale has represented the ISF
at numerous international events, including Olympic Qualifiers,
regional championships, the World Masters Game and many more.

 

Terry Baytor (Brampton, ON) posted an overall coaching record
of 79 wins and 9 losses as Head Coach of Canada's Senior Men's
National Team from 1989-2000.  His teams won four gold medals
(1991 Pan American Games, 1995 & 1999 Pan American Championships
and the 1992 World Championships) and a silver medal (1996 World
Championships).  Terry also played an important role in coaching
education both in Canada and with the ISF, including a clinic
in 1997 in South Africa.  Terry was inducted in the Softball
Canada Hall of Fame in 2003 and his jersey was retired by Softball
Canada in 2001.

 

Lori Sippel (Stratford, ON) played on the Senior Women's National
Team for 13 years.  Her pitching helped Canada qualify for the
first ever Olympic Games in 1996 with a fourth place finish at
the World Championships.  Sippel continued to lead her team to
a fifth place finish during the 1996 Olympics.  Sippel retired
from the program in 1996 only to return in 1998 to help Canada
qualify for the 2000 Olympic Games where she posted a 0.00 ERA.
 Lori is renowned as an Ambassador for Softball in Canada and
was inducted into the Softball Canada Hall of Fame in 1993, the
University of Nebraska Hall of Fame in 1997.  Her jersey was
also retired at the University of Nebraska in 1995 and at Softball
Canada in 1999.

 

With the induction, McMann, Baytor and Sippel engrave themselves
within the elite group of 133 hall of famers representing 20
countries and fall among the only 5 Canadians who of had this
great honor bestowed upon them.
