     The USA Softball junior men's national team coaching staff
will conduct an open evaluation camp for players born in 1989,
1990, 1991 and 1992.  The open camp will be held in North Mankato,
Minnesota on Thursday, August 3 from 7-9 pm at the South Central
College softball field, located at 1920 Lee Boulevard.  The camp
will be held in conjunction with the ASA Junior Olympic National
Tournament, for age groups 10-Under, 12-Under, 14-Under, 16-Under,
18-Under and 23-Under, which begins the following day at Caswell
Park in North Mankato.
 
     Head coach Tim Lyon and assistant coaches Scott Standerfer
and Gary Mullican, along with selection committee member Doug
Lindaman will evaluate players based on throwing, fielding, hitting
and timed-running drills.  No prior fastpitch softball experience
is required and age-appropriate baseball players are encouraged
to attend.  Players do not need to be participating in the ASA
national tournament to be eligible to attend the evaluation camp.
 
     The USA Softball coaching staff and selection committee
are in the process of locating, evaluating and training prospective
players for the 19-Under USA national team which will participate
in the International Softball Federation World Championships
