Cobourg appeared to have this game won on 2 different occasions,
leading 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th only to see Alvinston score
2 to force extra innings. Cobourg was up by a score of 4-3 in
the bottom of the 9th and had 2 out only to see a throwing error
to first base allow the tying run from 3rd to score. In the 10th
inning the international tiebreaker rule was used, Cobourg managed
a solid base hit to centerfield and the runner from second was
gunned down at the plate on a strong accurate throw from Alvinston's
centerfielder Marc Greenwood. In the bottom of the 10th inning
the Alvinston Indians Doug Charlton bunted the runner from 2nd
base over to third. Alvinston then executed the suicide squeeze
play allowing designated runner Vince Oliver to score the game
winning run on Steve Donald's bunt.
