--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Making the Softball Canada Casebook available as a free download
is the best thing that has happened to our educational program
in a very long time.

Now you and/or your study group have this important publication
ready to use.

Please insure that everyone you know in the game is aware that
the casebook is now available. It is less than 2MB in full size
and about 1.2MB as a ZIP file.

It will be updated when required. Look not only at the yearly
version number listed in the document (Version 10, 2006), but
at the file name. Currently it is named casebook2006(1). You
will see this file name change to casebook2006(2), etc if and
as the changes are made and then uploaded to the Softball Canada
website.

You can download it at:

http://www.softball.ca/usr/documents/files/1002/casebook2006.pdf

The best feature is that it is electronically searchable. If
you are pleased with the casebook's availability, please pass
along your feedback to Softball Canada.

Many casebook decisions are made by the Softball Canada Rules
Committee, the ISF, officiating publications, the casebook author,
and the ODC. If you have a case play you would like to have considered
to be added to the case book, please fill out the form on page
209 and send it directly to Softball Canada. It will be reviewed
and considered for insertion.

Undoubtedly, there will be some plays you disagree with. If you
feel that one of the current rulings needs changing, requires
more information, has mistakes, etc...........do not send those
directly to Softball Canada but rather to your local park or
district UIC and when appropriate, they will pass your thoughts
along to your Provincial/Territorial UIC, who will forward them
to Softball Canada.

It is important that Softball Canada receives positive feedback
so they continue to keep this very important document up-to-date
and available on their website... Your information and feedback
is critical to the document staying current and keeping its reputation
as a first rate publication in tact.

By studying and remembering the rulings and the thought process
that led to the decisions, the case book will assist you to make
those instantaneous decisions more correctly that are required
in today's fast-paced game. The casebook is a document that can
and will make a difference in your officiating experience. READ
IT THOROUGHLY!

Although the casebook has forgotten to list the credits, one
huge factor over all these years has been the contributions of
the content author, Don (Casey) Bracey, a Level V umpire from
Ontario.

Additionally, thanks to the tireless work of Donna Ozarko in
the Softball Canada office for the preparation of the document
in PDF and to Bob Stanton and the entire ODC for making the casebook
available to the membership at no cost.

Regards in Softball,

Bob Henning
