--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ottawa Gee-Gees and the Carleton Ravens Women’s FastPitch
Softball Teams have dedicated their first and second meetings
of the OIWFA 2006 season to Canadian Troops at home and abroad.
We will both be wearing specially designed uniforms featuring
red as the dominant colour.

Friday, September 29th, 2006, represents the first time our teams
will be at home in the 2006 season and in support of an initiative
started at the CF base in Petawawa by two wives of soldiers in
Afghanistan, the Gee-Gees and the Ravens will be wearing special
red jerseys for the game.

There are currently 2,300 Canadian soldiers fighting in Afghanistan
36 of whom have died in support of their cause.

This athlete-driven iniative is intended to boost morale and
show support for Canadian Soldiers in Afghanistan.

Local members of the Royal Canadian Legion, all members of the
Canadian Forces that are stationed in Ottawa , the general public
and members of the local media are hereby invited to the game.

Everyone who attends the game is encouraged to wear red to show
support for our troops.

The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Friday September 29

Garrison Commander Colonel Claude Rochette will address the crowd
for a few moments before the game and the national anthem will
be sung by University of Ottawa student Alyssa Beltempo.

The game will take place at Brewer Park off Bronson Avenue across
the street from Carleton University.

Both teams will be appearing on the A-Channel (Channel 6 in Ottawa)
to help raise awareness Friday morning from 7:30-8:00. Tune
in to check us out!

See you at the Park!
