LORDS FASTBALL WIN OCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

 

Windsor, ON - In a rematch of last year's finals, the Durham
Lords defeated the defending champion St. Clair Saints 5-3 to
claim this year's gold medal. As they did all season, the Lords
depended on their tight defensive play along with clutch hitting
to capture the title. The Lords led all game scoring two runs
in the first and three in the second, St. Clair scored late in
the seventh but it was too late, Durham held them to win the
gold medal for the 13th time. Danielle Smith (911 Emergency &
Response) was named Championship Outstanding Pitcher.

 

The Lords faced St. Clair in the semi final game winning 4-3;
DC scored in the bottom of the eight as they had to play extra
innings. Smith was named player of the game for the Lords, she
pitched eight innings and led the offence with two runs and one
RBI. St. Clair went on to beat Mohawk in the Bronze Medal game,
and then faced the Lords in the Gold Medal game.
