Some hi-lights from the 84th Annual OASA Convention held Nov
17-19 in Oshawa 
Ontario. The following is my interpretation only of any new rules
concerning 
the Intermediate mens and masters divisions for 2007. Please
don't consider 
these official until confirmed by the OASA. Some of the items
up for 
discussion left several people quite confused.


Bylaw 2.5.1 page 67
Topic Masters Players Section 5:1b

ADD: After the first sentence in section B, All pitchers on an
ISC I Roster 
in the current year are not eligible to pitch.

Topic: Intermediate Mens Section : New Section

This one was a little confusing especially after an amendment
to the motion.

I think the end result is the following .....

All Pitchers on a current ISC I roster are not eligible to play
in the OASA 
Intermediate Men's Classification unless they are 45 years of
age or older 
in the current year.

Topic: Residency Rule

Non - Resident Canadian Citizens are eligible to play for teams
classified 
as Senior in OASA Elimination and Provincial events ....
Delete " classified as senior "
Rationale: Players in all Men's Classifications that are non
Resident 
Canadian Citizens should be able to play in OASA Elimination
and Provincial 
Tournaments. They will need to follow all the other limitations
outlined in 
Bylaw 2.6.5


A real strong possibility that the OASA will host a 2007 Canadian

Intermediate Men's Championship in conjunction with Softball
Canada. This 
tournament will be run as a pilot project with St. Thomas Ontario
as the 
likely host location. Any out of province teams looking to compete
should 
visit the OASA web site and contact one of the Executive Committee
members :

The 2007 OASA Masters Provincial Championship host has not been
officially 
confirmed. It is looking like the tournament will be held in
Grafton again 
in 2007. No other communities have applied to host this tournament.
The 2007 
tournament will be run as one tournament with 2 separate divisions.
Teams 
will play 2 qualifying games which will self seed teams in either
the A or B 
division. The idea is to try to attract more teams who generally
don't come 
to the OASA Masters tournament because of the high caliber of
play. Now the 
top teams will play off in the A division with the remaining
teams battling 
it out in the B division.
