QAS and NSWIS dominate on day one

QAS Heatwave and NSWIS Firestars are undefeated at the conclusion
of today’s play on day one of the National Women’s League.

Six teams battled it out on the diamonds at Jells Park in Victoria.

QAS got off to a good start with convincing wins against the
Starz 12-0, WAIS Coastals 8-1 and the VIS Titans 8-0.

The QAS had a solid team performance both offensively and defensively,
scoring 28 runs in 14 innings. They have a tough schedule in
tomorrow’s play and will be looking to come out with the same
determination and drive as today.

NSWIS played two early games defeating the VIS Titans 2-0 and
the WAIS Coastals 3-1.

Pitching was NSWIS’ strength with Tatiana Holodnow and Zara
Mee on the mound. At bat, Danica Howlett and Belind Wright were
strong, contributing to the overall team performance.

The VIS Titans had a tight game against the Diamonds winning
5-4. Kate Quigley started well for the Titans and maintained
a consistent performance throughout the day. The Titans will
be looking to provide pressure on the diamond in tomorrow’s
play.

The Starz got over the line against the Diamonds 5-2 and although
the Diamonds displayed some top softball, it just wasn’t enough
to get a win on day one.

Tomorrow’s play starts at 9am.
