Teams feel the Heatwave

The QAS Heatwave continued to dominate as the second day of the
three day National Women’s League got underway.

The competition was tight with only a point deciding the results
for the first four games of the day.

In what could be seen as a preview of the final for Round 2,
QAS Heatwave took on the NSWIS Firestars in Game 12. The two
States battled it out to an eight innings decider with QAS just
getting over the line 2-1 to remain undefeated for the round.

QAS again provided a solid performance with Jocelyn McCallum
strong on the mound. Sandra Allen excelled in the field and Amy
Pagotto and Kylie Cronk at bat.

NSWIS Firestars were too strong for the Diamonds winning 7-2
but later went down to the Starz 2-1 in the last game of the
day.

Carly Cheeseman who is recovering from an injury pitched four
innings early in the game for the Starz only giving away two
hits and one run against the NSWIS Firestars.

In other games, the Diamonds got over the line against the VIS
Titans 2-1 and the WAIS Coastals 3-4.

The VIS Titans couldn’t capitalize on some close games going
down to the WAIS Coastals and the Starz 1-3.

In tomorrow’s play four games will be played; WAIS Coastals
vs Diamonds, Starz vs VIS Titans, Diamonds vs Heatwave and NSWIS
Firestars vs Starz.

The Final of Round 2 will be played at 1.30pm (AEST).
