Wellington, Hutt Valley Inter-city results
Saturday 13th Jan 2007

Miramar jumped into first place in the Intercity Men's competition
todayafter they defeated Porirua City United in the main game
at HataitaiPark.  Dave Bishop set the game alight in the bottom
half of thefirst innings for PCU with an automatic home run which
also scored RikiManson. Tane Richardson also hit an automatic
in the 1st innings andscored Hazley Martin to give PCU 4-0 lead.
Aaron Neemia got a hit in the top of the 2nd innings to score
Wayne Lauluand then Steven Ratu hit an automatic homerun in the
3rd innings to bringMiramar within two runs of PCU.  Wayne Laulu
tied the game at 4-4 inthe top of the 5th when he batted in 
John Stratford and Steven Ratuand then in the top of the 6th
innings, John Stratford forced an error inthe infield which scored
Damien McCulloch and Justin Fabling to giveMiramar a 6-4 lead.
 
Tight pitching by David Gollan shut out PCU in the 6th & 7th
inningsto give Miramar under new coach Kevin Henderson his first
win of theseason.
 
In the early game at Hataitai park, HCU shut out Poneke Kilbirnie3-0
 while at Te Atiawa park Kapiti secured a place in the top 6with
5-4 win over Newlands.  Royals celebrated their 2nd win of theseason
when they defeated HV Marist 5-3 and Giants had a 15-3 win over
HVDodgers to remain in contention for the top 6.  Cardinals also
had a7-0 win over Johnsonville.
 
In the women's intercity competition, Te Aroha had two wins in
the earlygame they defeated Johnsonville 9-2 and then defeated
Tawa 22-0 in thelate game to go through the first round of the
Intercity competitionundefeated.  Johnsonville recorded a win
and a loss after going downto Te Aroha they defeated HCU 7-0
in the late game at FraserPark.
