Eight inning decider sees China win the second series

The Chinese National Team has won the second game and the Sydney
series of the China Australia Challenge at Blacktown Olympic
Park tonight.

The game went to an eight inning decider after scores were level
at the bottom of the seventh innings 1-1.

China scored their first run in the top of the first and Australia's
Tracey Mosley (Qld) singled to help score Kylie Cronk (Qld) to
level the scores in the bottom of the third innings.

With Mosley behind the plate and Felicity Witt (NSW) on the mound,
the pair worked well together holding the Chinese batters.

Australia’s infield were instrumental in stopping China’s base
runners with Jodie Bowering (Qld) at first, Sandra Allen (Qld)
at second, Kate Quigley (Vic) at third and Danielle Stewart (Qld)
at short stop.

Witt pitched the eight innings for Australia with three strike
outs and gave up seven hits for the game.

In the top of the eighth innings, Australia intentionally walked
China's Di Wu to load the bases. China's Xia Pan scored a triple
with some quality batting to score three runs. Pan then scored
China's fifth run to take the lead in the game.

Australia managed one run in the eighth innings with Allen scoring
Cronk for her second, and Australia's only runs, for the game.

Australia out batted China with eight hits for the game, but
were unable to push their base runners home.

Mosley also took control in the batters box, batting at .667
with an on base average of .750 for the game.

Australia plays China in the last game of the series later tonight.

Australia won the first series, two games to one, which was held
in Brisbane last weekend.
