June 9-10
Elkhart, IA

The Circle Tap Fastpitch team traveled to Elkhart, IA over the
weekend for
the Albaugh Inc Liberty Bank Tournament and came away with a
3-2 mark
(13-6 overall). There were some ups and downs throughout the
weekend.
Our offense showed some signs of life again at times which was
great to
see. The weather was in the upper 80's and the sun shined down
all
weekend. Missing Darren Derricks, Tim Jorgensen, Kyle VanAbel,
and Paul
Algar. A big thanks to Conrad Bain of The Bar team for coming
along and
playing a little infield for us to help out.

Game 1
11:45 Saturday

#8Circle Tap 6 Des Moines Stampede 2
DM 2 3 3
CT 6 8 1
The Tappers started off the weekend against a local team with
a young
pitcher from Denmark that kept his team in ball games all weekend
long.
CT got on the board in the 2nd as Bryan Hansen drew a walk, Jamie
Knudson
singled and Conrad Bain reached base on an error driving in a
run. It
would remain 1-0 until the 5th when Steve Schucker led off with
a double
and scored on a Kyle Magnusson double and then Chris DeLarwelle
hit a two
run shot(4) to make it 4-0. The Stampede would make it a 4-2
game in the
top of the 6th as John Einertson singled and then Chris Bohlman
hit a two
run shot. CT answered right back with a pair as Matt Bramwell
reached on
an error with two out and Steve Schucker followed with a two
run blast(2).

Game 2 5PMSaturday
#8Circle Tap 0 #19Quad City Sox 7 6innings
CT 0 1 0
QC 7 8 1
This one was ugly for the Tappers. The Sox came out whacking
and never
looked back. They had our boy picked from the first pitch and
we couldn't
get to the veteran Terry Luster. In the first, with one out Bill
Kranz
singled, Keith Peterson walked, Nick Needham and Daryn Miller
followed
with base hits driving in 3 runs. In the 3rd kranz led off with
a triple
followed by an RBI single by Peterson and a two run shot by Needham.
It
remained that way until a Tommy Botkins solo shot in the 6th
ended it.

Game 3 Scheduled 8:30 start, got going around 10:30ish, ended
at 1AM
#8Circle Tap 9 #16 Pueblo, CO Bandits 3
CT 9 16 1
PB 3 6 1
This one started off a little shakey for the Tappers as well
as we found
ourselves in another 3-0 hole in the first after Mike Kelley
led off with
a double followed by a Cliff Wisdom double and a Shawn Vanduvall
triple,
but that is all the Bandits would muster the rest of the way.
CT made it
a 3-1 game in the 2nd as Tom Crouch drew a lead off walk moved
over on a
passed ball and scored on a Kevin Reichardt base hit. The CT
bats finally
came unglued in the third as we sent 9 batters to the plate and
scored 4
runs and still left two men on. Steve Schucker led off with a
base hit
followed by a Kyle Magnusson base hit. Schucker would score on
a wild
pitch to make it 3-2. Chris DeLarwelle and Frankie Perez each
picked up
base hits. With one out Matt Bramwell and Reichardt each singled.
With
CT leading 5-3, Pueblo made a pitching change and brought in
Bill
Hillhouse. The game remained 5-3 until the 6th when Jamie Knudson
led off
with a base hit and with one out Steve Schucker picked up an
RBI double,
Kyle Magnusson walked and Chris DeLarwelle picked up a 2RBI single
making
it 8-3. In the 7th Reichardt led off with a double moved to 3rd
on a
passed ball and scored on a Chad Ferguson base hit.

With a 2-1 record in our pool we earned the 2seed (vs 3seed other
pool)
11AM Sunday Quarter-Final
#8Circle Tap 6 #12Albaugh Inc(Elkhart, IA) 2
CT 6 10 2
AI 2 8 1
We've seen this Albaugh team quite a few times over the years
and they are
loaded with offensive talent. Matty Bramwell redeemed himself
and threw a
great game in this one and stranded 5 Albauugh runners in scoring
position, 7 total, getting the big outs when he needed them.
The Tappers
left 9 runners on of their own, including the bases juiced in
both the 3rd
and 7th innings. CT grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first
as Steve
Schucker reached base on an error and then Kyle Magnusson cashed
them both
in on a two run shot(2). With two out Tommy Crouch hit a solo
blast(2).
In the bottom half of the 4th Albaugh made it a 3-1 game as Matt
Palozzo
picked up a two out double and scored on a Matt Darling base
hit. In the
top of the 6th CT took a 5-1 advantage as Bryan Hansen picked
up a two out
base hit followed by a Chad Ferguson base hit and Steve Schucker
cashed
them in on a two run triple. Albaugh came back with a run on
a Matt
Palazzo solo shot to make it 5-2. The Tappers then struck again
in the
top of the 7th as Chris DeLarwelle led off with a base hit and
would later
score on a Kevin Reichardt base hit.

1PM Sunday Semi-Final
#8Circle Tap 3 #10MinnDak Millers(Moorhead, MN) 4
MM 4 5 2
CT 3 5 0
This was another epic battle between these two clubs. We saw
each other a
ton of times last year, this was the first meeting of the 07
season.
MinnDak has a very strong lineup again this year with some incredible
team
speed. We did our job keeping the speedy guys off the pads but
they got
us using power in this one. With two out in the 1st Chad Boom
and Roman
Foore picked up base hits and then a walk to Tony Kunka. Jason
Wandler
stepped to the plate and found a gap scoring a couple of runs
and another
one the way home but a perfect 9-4-1 relay caught Kunka at the
plate. CT
answered right back in the bottom half as Steve Schucker led
off with a
solo blast(3). With two out Frankie Perez walked, Tom Crouch
singled,
Kevin Reichardt walked, Perez scored on a wild pitch to even
the score
2-2. It remained that way until the bottom of the 4th when Bryan
Hansen
picked up a one out base hit, stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a wild
pitch and
scored as Chad Ferguson reached on an error. After a rough start
C-Mac
retired 15 of the next 16 batters until the 7th. Tony Kunka drew
a lead
off walk and then Jason Wandler knocked a two run shot to take
a 4-3 win.
