QUEBEC DROPS N.B.
SUMMERSIDE - Saint Leonard D’Aston Express of Quebec scored six
runs in the third inning en route to an 11-4 mercy rule defeat
of New Brunswick’s Miramichi Vics in a battle winless teams.
After a good start, New Brunswick’s bats fell silent and Quebec’s
caught fire.
Charles Hebert (3-4, two runs scored, two run home run), Jean
Daniel Doucet (2-4, two runs scored, RBI, stolen base), Miguel
Mottard (3-3, two runs scored, RBI) and Nicholas Morin (1-2,
run scored).
Robbie Layton (2-3) had the big bat for the Vics, slamming out
solo and two run home runs to account for three of the team’s
four runs. Shane Benjamin (1-3, two runs scored, stolen base)
and Scott Stennick (1-3) also had good at bats.
Matt Greer went six innings, striking out seven, allowing four
runs on six hits and walking one to earn the win.
Benjamin suffered the loss going two and two third innings allowing
seven runs on nine hits, walking two and striking out one. Brandon
Gorman went three innings in relief, allowing four runs and sititng
down one.
Quebec moved to 1-3 with the win while the Vics fell to 0-4
