their doubleheader.

In the opener, Greg Thede had a 2 run homer while Brian Maas
had a pair of doubles for Port Elgin.

Frank Cox came on in relief for Owen Sound and was touched for
the 8th run while striking out 5 in his appearance.

Because the Selects are without pitcher David Juniper due to
injury, Cox and Jamie Simpson were brought in to pitch for the

In the second game, a botched grounder off the bat of Tyler Baumber
in the 5th inning allowed Owen Sound to score twice and break
a 1-1 tie.

Port Elgin opened the scoring in the first when Maas walked and
came home on Mike Reilly's triple.
Owen Sound tied it in the bottom of the third when right fielder
Lucas Lind walked, was sacrificed to second and and scored on
Matt Kuhl's rbi single.

The Midget Selects also turned two difficult double plays to
aid winning pitcher Jamie Simpson who gave up 3 hits and struck
out 5 over 7 innings.

Matt Hamilton took the loss for Port Elgin.

The Blue Devils begin play at the ISC II Championship in Kitchener
on Tuesday night when they face the Hickson Reds

Four members of the Selects; Nolan Kreis, Brent Thompson, Jason
Miller & David Juniper, will compete for various teams at the
Canadian Midget Championships in Saskatoon next week.

Kreis & Thompson will play for the Chepstow Colts.

Juniper, who did not suit up last night, is scheduled to compete
for the Linwood Chiefs.
