SUMMERSIDE - The Scarborough Wolverines took home the most awards
with four, but it was Newfoundland and Labrador’s Kelly’s Pub
Canadians ace Sean Cleary walking away with the coveted Tournament
MVP award at the 2007 Causeway Bay Softball Canada Junior Men’s
fast pitch championship Friday night.

The awards were presented prior to the start of the playoff round
and the first game between the first place, undefeated Kelly’s
Pub and Elmira Advance Millwright.

Kelly’s Pub, Elmira Advance Millwright and Saskatchewan Junior
Diamondbacks each took home two awards.

Cleary was dominant on the slab, leading his team to a perfect
8-0 record, going 4-0 withy 37 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.56.
He was named Thursday to the third NL entry at the upcoming Sr.
Men’s Canadians later this month, the Grumpy Stump.

"We had a good week so far," Cleary said. "But it doesn’t mean
nothing right now. Everything we’ve done to this point is erased."

Kelly’s Pub second basemen Ryan Boland earned the second award
for his team, hauling in an all star second base award while
batting .368 and a fielding percentage of 1.000.

Jason Hill was getting the ball for NL in their playoff game
Friday night with Elmira. Dan Martin was providing the opposition.

Andrew Putnam of the Scarborough Wolverines was named the week-long
tournament’s top pitcher. He was a unanimous choice, after going
4-0 with a 0.48 ERA while fanning 37 batters.

Putnam’s teammate, Nick Dambrosio was named the tournament’s
top batter in the round robin, batting .500. The short stop also
had a fielding average of .950.

Other tournament all stars were:

Pitcher - Dan Martin of the Elmira Advance Millwrights was named
all star pitcher, pitching in seven of his team’s eight games,
a total of 39 innings, sitting down 30 and batting .350.

Catcher - BL Sparvier of the Saskatchewan Junior Diamondbacks
was named all star catcher, batting .421 with a .920 fielding
percentage.

1st base - Patrick Stewart of East Hants Henchmen with a .428
batting average and a .980 fielding percentage.

3rd Base - Matt King of the Junior Diamondbacks was awarded this
trophy after hitting .409 and a .880 fielding average.

Fielder - Miguel Mottard of Quebec batted .400 with a fielding
percentage of 1.000

Fielder - Ryan Jaynes of Scarborough Wolverines took home the
second of three fielder awards, batting .450 with a fielding
average of 1.000.

Fielder - Alex MacDonald of the host P.E.I. Source for Sports
Twins rounded out the fielder all stars, batting .389 with a
.800 fielding percentage

Utility player - Jack McLaren of the Elmira Advance Millwrights
took this honour, batting .421 and a .810 fielding average.
