OKCOlympic Preview Game Cancelled; will not be re-scheduled 

(OklahomaCity, OK) – The Canadian Senior Women’s National Softball
Team only had alittle taste of game action last night, as their
game against the NationalProfessional Fastpitch (NPF) All-Stars
was cut short due to a thunderstorm. Atapproximately 9:00pm CDT,
lightning could be seen in the distance and wasfollowed by heavy
rain approaching the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in OklahomaCity,
Oklahoma, where the game was being held. The game was called
in the topof the third inning with Canada leading 2-1, and will
not be rescheduled.

Despitethe shortened game, Canada was off to a strong start out
of the gate, scoring arun in the top of the first inning. Melanie
Matthews (Surrey, BC) led off theinning with an infield single,
and later scored on a single by Jennifer Salling(Port Coquitlam,
BC).

Afterthe NPF All-Stars tied the game in the bottom half of the
first, Canadathreatened again in the top of the third, when both
Noemie Marin (Acton-Vale,QC) and Melanie Matthews singled to
start the inning. After Erin McLean(Whitby, ON) sacrificed the
runners ahead, Jennifer Yee (North Delta, BC)grounded out, allowing
Marin to score from third. This is when lightningappeared in
the distant skies, followed by a heavy rain storm that led to
thedecision to cancel the game. It will not be replayed. 

Inthe pitcher’s circle, Robin Mackin (Newmarket, ON) pitched
her first game of2008 following an undisclosed injury suffered
during the winter. She threw oneinning and a third, allowing
one run on two hits. Danielle Lawrie (Langley, BC)pitched two
thirds of an inning in relief, recording one strikeout.

Canadawill return to action tonight when they will square off
against China (6:30pm CDT), a game that will be played on Diamond
#2 at theASA Hall of Fame Complex. This game will not be available
through GameTracker,as the United States will entertain the NPF
All-Stars concurrently on the maindiamond. Be sure to check the
Softball Canada website (www.softball.ca) shortly after the conclusionof
the game for the complete box score and play-by-play.

Canadawill also take on the United States tomorrow, June 7th
(2:30pm CDT).Live scoring of this game will be available through
GameTracker, which can bereached through the Softball Canada
website.

Partiedu OKC Pré-Olympique annulée; ne sera pas remise

(OklahomaCity, OK) – L’équipe nationale de softball féminine
senior du Canada aseulement eu un petit goût d’action hier soir,
alors que leur partie face à l’équipeétoile de la ligue National
Professional Faspitch (NPF) a été annulé en raisonde tonnerre
et de pluie abondante qui s’approchait du Stade du Temple de
larenommée de l’ASA à Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. La partie a été
annulée en débutde troisième manche alors que le Canada menait
2 à 1, et elle ne sera pasremise.

Malgréla courte partie, le Canada a commencé en force dès le
début de la premièremanche, marquant un point pour prendre les
devants 1 à 0. Melanie Matthews(Surrey, C-B) a commencé la manche
avec un simple au champ intérieur, et a plustard marqué sur un
simple de Jennifer Salling (Port Coquitlam, C-B).

Aprèsque les étoiles du NPF ont égalé la marque en fin de première,
le Canada s’estrepris en début de troisième manche, lorsque Noémie
Marin (Acton-Vale, QC) etMelanie Matthews ont tous les deux cogné
des simples pour commencer la manche.Après un amorti sacrifice
de la part d’Erin McLean (Whitby, ON), Jennifer Yee(North Delta,
C-B) a frapper un roulant, permettant à Marin de croiser lemarbre
du troisième coussin. C’est à ce moment que les éclairs ont apparus
dansles cieux, suivi d’une pluie abondante qui a mené à la décision
d’annuler lapartie. Elle ne sera pas remise.

Dansle cercle des lanceuses, Robin Mackin (Newmarket, ON) a lancé
pour la premièrefois de l’année 2008 suivant une blessure qui
a été soufferte l’hiver dernier.Elle a lancé une manche et un
tiers, accordant un point sur deux coups sûrs.Danielle Lawrie
(Langley, C-B) a lancé deux tiers de manche en relève,récoltant
un retrait au bâton.

LeCanada retourne en action ce soir lorsqu’il fera face à la
Chine (18 :30heure Centrale), une partie qui sera joué sur le
Terrain #2 du complexe Templede la renommée de l’ASA. Cette partie
ne sera pas disponible sur GameTracker,alors que les États-Unis
affrontent les étoiles NPF en même temps sur leterrain principal.
