Chicagoavoids series sweep with 3-1 win over Canada

(Chicago,IL) – The Chicago Bandits had something to prove after
three straight losses atthe hands of Canada’s Senior Women’s
National team, as the NationalProfessional Fastpitch team took
advantage of an impressive performance bystarting pitcher Jessica
Sallinger who limited the Canadians to only one hit.Even still,
the Bandits needed two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning
toearn the 3-1 win in the series finale at the Judson University
Sports Complex.

Itcertainly looked like the Bandits had something to prove, as
they loaded thebases in the bottom of the first inning on three
walks, but were unable to pushany runners in to score. In the
top of the third, however, the Bandits wereable to score the
first run of the game on and RBI double by Jaime Clark. Ittook
until the top of the sixth inning for Canada to earn its first
hit, arun-scoring single by Sheena Lawrick (Calgary, AB) that
pushed Jennifer Yee(North Delta, BC) in to score. In the bottom
of the inning, Chicago finally putthe game away on a two-run
homerun by designated player Nicole Trimboli.

RobinMackin (Newmarket, ON), Lauren Bay Regula (Trail, BC) and
Dione Meier(Saskatoon, SK) evenly share the pitching duties for
Canada, each pitching twoinnings in the loss. Mackin struggled
a bit with her control by walking fourbatters, but only allowed
one hit and no runs. Bay Regula gave up one run ontwo hits to
go along with two strikeouts, while Meier allowed two runs on
fourhits.

Canadawill now make the short trip to Rockford, IL where they
will meet thesecond-place Thunder in a four-game series starting
Thursday, July 19 (6:35 p.m.CDT).

Chicagoévite le balayage avec une victoire de 3-1 face au Canada

(Chicago,IL) – Les Bandits de Chicago avaient quelque chose à
prouver après troisdéfaites d’affilé aux mains de l’équipe nationale
senior féminine du Canada,alors que l’équipe de la ligue National
Professional Fastpitch a pris avantaged’une performance étincelante
de la lanceuse partante Jessica Sallinger qui alimité les canadiennes
à seulement un coup sûr. Malgré cet exploit, les Banditsont eu
besoin de deux points en fin de sixième manche pour mériter la
victoirede 3 à 1 dans la dernière partie de la série au complexe
sportif del’Université Judson.

Ilétait apparent que les Bandits avaient quelque chose à prouver,
alors qu’ellesont rempli les coussins sur trois buts sur balles
dès la fin de la premièremanche, mais n’ont pas été capable de
marquer. Toutefois, en fin de troisième,les Bandits ont réussi
à marquer le premier point de la partie sur un double deJaime
Clark. Le Canada a pris six manches pour finalement obtenir son
premiercoup sûr, un simple de Sheena Lawrick (Calgary, AB) qui
a poussé Jennifer Yee(North Delta, C-B) au marbre du deuxième
but. En fin de manche, Chicago afinalement été capable de cogner
le clou dans le cercueil après un circuit dedeux points frappé
par la joueuse désignée Nicole Trimboli.

lanceuses pour le Canada,alors que chacune a lancé deux manches
dans la défaite. Mackin a eu un peu dedifficulté avec son contrôle
en accordant quatre passes gratuites, mais aseulement accordé
un coup sûr sans donner de point. Bay Regula a cédé un pointsur
deux coups sûrs ainsi que quatre retraits sur des prises, alors
que Meier apermis deux points sur quatre coups sûrs.

LeCanada fera maintenant le court voyage à Rockford, IL où il
fera face auThunder, qui est présentement en deuxième position
dans la ligue. La série dequatre parties s’amorcera jeudi le
19 juin à 18:35 heure centrale.
