Team Canada wins its fifth game of ProTour 9-2

(Rockford, IL) – Having already won five of sixgames on the Pro
Tour, the Senior Women’s National Team managed to maintainmomentum
last night by claiming a 9-2 victory over the Rockford Thunder.

The Rockford team was reluctant to give up anothergame to the
Senior Women’s squad, but were left no choice as Canada gained
anearly 3-0 lead. Jennifer Salling (Port Coquitlam, BC) started
the tally whenshe got a homerun in the top of the first inning,
also batting in Jennifer Yee(North Delta, BC).  Soon thereafter,
in the second inning of play, KaleighRafter  (Guelph, ON) recorded
a run when Noémie Marin(Acton-Vale, QC) singled then advanced
to second base on a wild pitch.

Despite the consistent arm of starting pitcher Robin Mackin (Newmarket,
ON), Rockford’s Tonya Callahan registered a homerun, while her
teammate Shanna Diller also scored in the bottom of the second
inning. Neither team would score again in the third or fourth
innings. 
 
A sacrifice bunt by Melanie Matthews (Surrey, BC) in the fifth
inning advanced Marin to second base, from which point she was
batted in by Erin McLean (Whitby, ON). Eventually, McLean would
also register a run for her team. 
 
An already frustrated Rockford Thunder roster became even more
distressed when in the final inning, Canada’s Matthews, Yee,
McLean and Kristy Odamura (Richmond, BC) added four more runs,
closing out the game with a 9-2 victory. Danielle Lawrie (Langley,
BC), who replaced Mackin in the fifth inning, pitched a nearly
perfect three innings with zero runs and five strikeouts for
nine at bats.
 
Game three of the ongoing series between Team Canada and the
Rockford Thunder will take place tonight, June 21st, 2008 at
5:35p.m. CDT at Player’s Park in Roscoe, IL.

Le Canada remporte la cinquièmepartie de la tournée professionnelle
9 à 2

(Rockford, IL) – Ayant déjà remportécinq parties sur six sur
leur tournée professionnelle, l’équipe nationaleféminine senior
a été capable de garder leur élan hier soir en remportant unevictoire
de 9-2 sur le Thunder de Rockford.

L’équipe de Rockford était réticente àperdre une autre partie
a la formation féminine senior, mais n’avait pas lechoix alors
que le Canada a pris les devants 3 à 0 très tôt dans la partie.Jennifer
Salling (Port Coquitlam, C-B) a commencé le tout en claquant
un coupcircuit en début de première manche, permettant aussi
a Jennifer Yee (NorthDelta, C-B) de marquer. En deuxième manche,
Kaleigh Rafter (Guelph, ON) acroisé le marbre sur un simple de
Noémie Marin (Acton-Vale, QC).

Malgré un départ constant de RobinMackin (Newmarket, ON), Tonya
Callahan de Rockford a été capable de cogner uncircuit de deux
points. Aucune des deux équipes n’ont été capable de marquer
entroisième ou en quatrième.

Un coup sacrifice de Melanie Matthews(Surrey, C-B) en cinquième
manche a poussé Marin au deuxième but, qui a ensuitemarqué sur
un coup sûr d’Erin McLean (Whitby, ON). McLean a éventuellement
croiséle marbre elle aussi.

Une formation déjà frustrée de Rockfords’est mis encore plus
en misère en dernière manche, alors que Matthews, Yee,McLean
et Kristy Odamura (Richmond, C-B) ont tous croisé le marbre pour
leCanada, donnant à l’équipe une victoire de 9 à 2. Danielle
Lawrie (Langley,C-B) qui a remplacé Mackin en cinquième manche,
a lancé trois manches presqueparfaites sans allouer de point
avec cinq retraits au bâton.

La troisième partie de la série entre leCanada et le Thunder
de Rockford aura lieu ce soir, le 21 juin à 17:35 heurecentrale
au Player’s Park à Roscoe, IL.
