Team Canada claims 6-5 nail-biter overThunder

(Rockford, IL) – In its first close game of the ProTour, the
Senior Women’s National Team battled and ultimately won a close
6-5decision against the Rockford Thunder last night at Player’s
Park. Veterancentre fielder, Allison Bradley (Pinkerton, ON),
and second baseman JenniferYee (North Delta, BC) each earned
two runs to help their team to victory.

The third game of the series proved to be a matter of catch up
for the Rockford Thunder squad, who responded to almost every
Team Canada run with one of its own. In the top of the first
inning, Yee advanced to first on a defensive error, stole second
and opened up the scoring when she was sent home by teammate
Jennifer Salling (Port Coquitlam, BC). Feeling the pressure to
even out the score, Rockford’s Kristen Zaleski retaliated with
a run of her own, leveling out the score to 1-1.

Erin McLean (Whitby, ON) was the next to list a runin the third
inning, when she was batted in by Salling, who recorded her secondRBI
of the game. Immediately following this play, Bradley singled
to centrefield, but advanced to third base on an error, enabling
both Salling and Yee toachieve a run. Ultimately, the team would
secure another run before taking tothe field.  

Determined to challenge the Senior Women and proveits worth in
front of a hometown crowd, the Thunder collected four more runs
inthe bottom of the fourth inning to tie the score at five. However,
this wouldnot be enough to stave off Canada, as Bradley snuck
in the last run of thenight in the final inning.

Dione Meier (Saskatoon, SK) and Danielle Lawrie(Langley, BC),
who shared pitching duties for the evening, had a combined sevenstrikeouts.
Bradley had an outstanding performance with two runs and two
RBIs.Salling also collected an impressive two hits, one run and
two RBIs.

The Senior Women’s National Team will face offagainst the Rockford
Thunder again on June 22, 2008 at 3:05 p.m. CDT.

Équipe Canada se mérite unevictoire serrée de 6 à 5 face au Thunder

(Rockford, IL) – Dans le premier matchserré de la tournée professionnelle,
l’équipe nationale senior féminine abataillé fort et a finalement
gagné une décision étroite de 6 à 5 contre leThunder de Rockford
hier soir à Player’s Park. La voltigeuse de centre vétéranAlison
Bradley (Pinkerton, ON) et la joueuse de deuxième but Jennifer
Yee(North Delta, C-B) se sont chacun méritées deux points pour
mener leur équipe àla victoire.

La troisième partie de la série étaitpleine de rattrapage pour
la formation du Thunder de Rockford, qui a répondu àpresque tous
les points du Canada. En début de première manche, Yee est avancéeau
premier but sur une erreur défensive, a volé le deuxième but
et a ouvert lepointage sur un simple de Jennifer Salling (Port
Coquitlam, C-B). Ressentant lapression d’égaler la marque, Kristen
Zaleski du Thunder a croisé le marbre surune balle qui s’est
échappé de la receveuse, nivelant le pointage à 1-1.

Erin McLean (Whitby, ON) était laprochaine a marquer un point
en troisième manche, lorsqu’elle a été poussée aumarbre par Salling
qui à produit son deuxième point de la partie. Immédiatementaprès
ce jeu, Bradley a cogné un simple au champ centre et a avancé
autroisième but sur une erreur, permettant à Salling et Yee de
marquer un point.Ultimement, l’équipe a ajouté un autre point
lors de cette manche avant deretourner à la défensive.

Déterminé à faire compétition à l’équipecanadienne et démontrer
sa force devant des partisans locaux, le Thunder àrécolté quatre
autres points en fin de quatrième manche pour égaler la marque
ànouveau à 5-5. Toutefois, cela n’était pas assez pour décourager
le Canada,alors que Bradley a croisé le marbre pour le dernier
point de la soirée lors dela dernière manche.

Dione Meier (Saskatoon, SK) et DanielleLawrie (Langley, C-B),
qui ont partagé le travail dans le cercle des lanceuses,ont combiné
pour sept retraits sur des prises. Bradley a eu une performanceexcellente
avec deux points marqués et deux points produits. Salling a aussirécolté
deux coups sûrs, un point et deux points produits.

L’équipe nationale senior féminineaffrontera le Thunder de Rockford
pour une dernière fois cet après midi, le 22juin, à 15:05 heure
centrale.
