NIAGARA SNAPPERS June 1,2, 3 at Ker Park

Twelve teams head to Niagara Falls this weekend for the 9th annual
Niagara Snappers Shootout

The Scarborough Force are in the BW Motors Div. along with Hill United
Chiefs, (AAU Champs in Florida this past January,) along with the Port
Elgin Blue Devils and another Lake Huron entry, the Port Huron
Wellness/Gillies Fastball Club.

The KW Cubs, 2011 OASA Champs, will play the MS Heating Div. Pool play
will include the Lake Simcoe Lightning who were 2nd in the
Woodstock/Crush May Two Four, the Wiarton Nationals ISC OCC winners in
New Dundee last year and the Niagara Fury.

Three clubs who were at St Clements this past weekend play in the
Niagara Fasteners Div. along with the host Snappers. Those 3 clubs out
of the Outlaw's Bell Cartage tournament include the "A" finalists Elmira
Expos, the "B" semi-finalists Owen Sound VW juniors, and the Alvinston
Indians.

There may be some questions answered in Niagara.

Will Scarborogh come out on top for the 3rd time?

Will Hill United be as dominant in the Snapper Shootout as they were at
the 48 teamer AAUs in Florida?

Will the KW Cubs begin to establish a reputation as a top Ontario
fastpitch club?

Will the Blue Devils, the Expos and the Nationals begin to put more
wins on the board and start to pull away from the field?

Will Alvinston be able to improve on their 2012 start?

and with a few teams idle this weekend, some of the big teams not yet
ready for prime time..who will be showing up to fill a roster spot or two?

The Snappers will be a big test for all these teams, some teams just
getting the season underway, others building momentum, some pitchers
hitting their groove and some batters just beginning to knock off the
rust. A great weekend of fastpitch awaits.

See you at the ball yard.

SOUTH PERTH game of the week

A good rain Tuesday at noon hour knocked the dust down for the Breslau
Badgers home opener against the KW Cubs. The Cubs came out the chute
early scoring two runs in the first...Grant Baechler singled, Adam
Hiller walked, doing what lead off hitters do...Batting 3rd for the
Cubs, starting pitcher Brad Thomson walked, setting up 2nd baseman Dan
Mitchell's 2 RBI double. That was all the Cubs needed.

Thomson started for the Cubs, allowing 0 runs, on 2 hits over 2
innings. Ryan French closed down the Badgers over the next 5 innings.

The Badgers were able to close the score in the 4th, a Brandon Horn
triple, followed by a Jamie Sutton RBI..but that was all the Breslau
offence could muster.

The Cubs defence were in mid season form. Ryan French had a nice 2nd out
strike-out that catcher Grant Baechler converted into 3 outs with a
great throw to 2nd to wipe out the hit and run play set up by Breslau
coach Jamie Simpson. Andrew Phibbs took the loss for the Badgers.
Great game, a 8;30 start and home in Waterloo by 10;30.

Cubs off to the Niagara Snapper tournament this weekend. Jamie
Simpson will have the Owen Sound Selects in Niagara as well...
