Faithful fastball fans interested in satisfying their fix of fine fastball should look to attend the 15th annual Mitchell Mets intermediate tournament in Keterson Park, Mitchell this weekend, June 10-12.
The usual 16 men’s teams, many from the South Perth Men’s Fastball League, will compete in the men’s division, while eight ladies teams will vie for the ladies division crown.
An interesting twist in all this is the appearance of the Australian Under-19 men’s team, which will play in the 16-team men’s draw. The Aussie Colts will play the Chepstow Aces Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Win or lose, they will again take to the field at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Aussies are flying to southwestern Ontario and play a series of exhibition doubleheaders before taking off to PEI for the ISF Jr. Men’s World Softball Championships.

Game 3 – Friday, June 10, ISC II #2 Harriston Mercurys vs. Monkton Muskrats, 7 p.m.
Game 4 – Friday, June 10, Milverton AW Millwrights vs. Waterloo Hallman Jr. Twins, 9:30 p.m.
Game 5 – Friday, June 10, Elora Rage vs. Fullarton A’s, 8:45 p.m.
Game 6 – Saturday, June 11, Blenheim vs. ISC II #15 Port Elgin Blue Devils, 9:30 a.m.
Game 7 – Saturday, June 11, Owen Sound Crunch vs. Ingersoll Centennials, 9:30 a.m.
Game 8 – Saturday, June 11, Australia Under-19s Colts vs. Chepstow Aces, 9:30 a.m.
Games continue all day Saturday and Sunday, with the ‘A’ final set for 3 p.m. Sunday (and the ‘if’ game to follow at 4:30 if necessary). The ‘B’ final will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Mitchell is located just 15-minutes west of Stratford on Hwy 8, and 45-minutes north of London on Highway 23. Keterson Park is located on Wellington Street at the east end of town.
