On a night that seemed more like August than October, the Micksburg Twins defeated Team Easton by a score of 4-0 in Stittsville.

The Twins got on the scoreboard in the top of the first. Lead off hitter Barry McIntyre was hit by a pitch. Jerry McIntyre sacrificed his brother to third and Corey Costello hit an RBI single to get the Twins up 1-0.

In the bottom of the first, with two out, Easton catcher Todd Fraser hit a long off hand fly ball that looked like it had potential for a home run. However, it only reached the warning track, and the Twins still led 1-0.

In the fourth, Corey Costello led off the inning by hitting a large solo homerun. Jamey Mick then got on base with a walk, but was stranded there. Micksburg led 2-0 after three and a half innings.

In the bottom of the fourth, Team Easton got their first (and it would turn out to be only) base runner of the game. Kevin Chevrier reached on an error when first base was left uncovered in a comeback dribbler to the pitcher. Chevrier got to second on a ground out, then stole third, but was stranded there as Randy Peck grounded to first to end the inning.

In the top of the seventh, Micksburg scored two insurance runs. Brad Steege led off with a single, was sacrificed to second by Kerr Childerhose, and was brought in on a Joran Graham single. With two out, Wayne Ready hit another single to score Graham to push the Twins lead to 4-0.

Corey Costello threw a no-hitter, facing only 22 batters and struck out 14. Dan Konkle only gave up five hits, and also struck out 14, including striking out the side in the second and sixth innings.

The next game will be up in Micksburg on Friday October 7, at 8PM, and if the weather cooperates, a large crowd is expected.
