2011 Grants Pass, Oregon Boatnik Wrap Up

Thanks to umpires Greg Fowler from Bend, Bob Garibaldi from Sacramento and Steve Pean from Southern Oregon for great eyesight. Thanks to Jim Flanagan and Fastpitchwest.com for posting our updates after every game and for our cool new website at Nafafastpitch.com. Thanks to the Grants Pass Active Club for allowing us to host this tournament at the Boatnik Festival with 30,000 people. Thanks to the City of Grants Pass for the use of Riverside Park. Thanks to the teams, players and coaches who participated and the spectators who watched the games and players.
After Corey Avery dazzled the fans with 15 strikeouts in the final for the Cardinals, Kevin Ray of Mock Ford (who also had the game winning hit the night before to upset the defending champs Portland Rockies) stole the day with a 3 run inside the park homerun to win MVP honors and lead his team to the title 3-2 over the Cardinals and MVPitcher Corey Avery of the Cardinals. Josh Seargent was the winning pitcher for Mock Ford.

The 2011 Boatnik Tournament in beautiful Grants Pass, Oregon started off this evening with a come from behind win of 11-5 for the Southern Oregon Bandits over Mock Ford with Marcus Durbin pitching for the Bandits and Josh Sargent for Mock Ford. Mock Ford led 4-3 early on when the Bandits had a four homreun barrage in one inning.
