Why Bother !!! How can you even call it a National championship with 3 teams !!! We have 6 Teams in our league is That a World title if we win it all !!! I would be embarrassed to even give any info about these games !!!
Joe, didn’t see your team there. It was a pretty challenging bracket. It just left out all the teams to weed through and got to the top three teams.
I think four factors come into play: No. 1, the number of teams trying to compete in the ASA Class A National has been dropping over the years – no secret there. No. 2, the tournament was held on the west coast, meaning that the Midwest states weren’t represented – and that’s where men’s fastpitch still has some popularity. No. 3, NAFA. Over the years NAFA has offered a national tournament (World Series) that has grown in popularity with most lower division and mid-level teams. I covered NAFA last year, and the majority of players and teams I talked with thoroughly enjoy playing NAFA. It was suggested that the NAFA World Series should be held on the west Coast- California – and that was flatly refused as the loss of East and Midwest teams would cripple the tournament. No. 4, the economy has hurt the travel plans of many a team.
