The Casa Trejo Bombers came all the way back through the loser’s bracket, beating previously unbeaten Corona Redline twice in the final two games of the tournament to capture the 2011 Raymond Angula Memorial Tournament.
The Bombers dropped their first game of the tournament — to Corona Redline — winning seven games inn 100+ degree heat. Gilbert Joiner was the winning pitcher in the championship game and the “if” game.
Editor’s note:
An earlier report listed the Casa Trejo Bombers as the Aztecs, as they were shown on the official tournament bracket sheet. The team was sponsored by Casa Trejo, so the correction made. A team that wins 7 games in that heat deserves to be called by yet another name: “Champions”.
