A year ago, the Murphy’s Fish and Chips Eagles, representing Nova Scotia, were the runner-up at the Canadian under-23 men’s fast pitch championships played at St. Croix. Hants Co.
The final of this year’s nationals featured the same two teams, Nova Scotia and Napanee, ON, but this time the outcome was reversed.
Playing on Napanee’s home field, Murphy’s scored a 6-3 victory in Saturday evening’s championship final.
Pitcher Justin Schofield, of White Rock, went the distance for the victory, allowing six hits, walking three and recording nine strikeouts.
Schofield, who also played for the Eagles last year, had all three Nova Scotia wins in the playoff round to earn playoff MVP honours.
Got to see Justin Schofield pitch last weekend @ Willow Street Pa. What a treat to see young raw pitching talent . Great valocity , moves the ball in and out , up and very good drop. This young men is a workhorse on the mound.
