From the prolific pen of Bob Otto:
MIDLAND, MI – The Gremlins from Clifton Park New York showed why they are the number one ranked team in the International Softball Congress. One-through-nine, they come out swinging.
And their pitching? That’s world-class as well with Andrew Kirkpatrick in the circle.
MURDERERS ROW
The Gremlins lineup of Mathieu Roy, Rhys Casley, Travis Wilson, Patrick Shannon, Kirkpatrick, Blair Ezekiel, Jeremy Tracy, Wayne Laulu, Todd Schultz and Ben Wideman are a nightmare for any pitcher to contend with.Sean Whitten of the No. 6 ranked Eugene, OR / California A’s found out first hand.
The Gremlins roughed up Whitten, one of the best hurlers in the 2012 ISC World Tournament, for 11 hits and five earned runs in a 6-0 victory in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Eight of 10 Gremlins had at least one hit with Roy – in the leadoff spot – going 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.
Should New York continue its hot-hitting streak, they will be hard to stop. In three world tournament games, the Gremlins have outscored opposing teams 26-1. And as a team, they have a lusty .405 batting average (32-for-79).
