Samoa continued its winning ways today, running their record to 3-0, including a win over USA. Samoa is making a strong bid to join favorite Australia as one of three playoff/medal round teams from Pool A. (Pan-Am Games runner up Venezuela is also unbeaten after two games). These three appear to be the early favorites to qualify for the playoffs from Pool A.
For Samoa today, against Indonesia, it was easy, then anything but. Samoa took a 10-1 lead into the 7th inning, when Indonesia scored 9 runs – with two outs to tie the game. Samoa managed to push across the winning run in the international tie breaker. Zane Siolo started the game for Samoa, pitching the first two innings, then came back into the game in the 8th to notch a 3 up, 3 down save.
Samoa will take on Venezuela tomorrow, on Day 4. Venezuela is playing the last game of the day of Day 3 against unbeaten Czech Republic.
