AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND – In today’s fastpitch game most managers use the designated hitter, choosing to sit their pitchers, not wanting to risk injury or tiredness. Or they just plain can’t hit.
But not USA manager Pete Turner. Not when he’s got a pitcher who can hit a softball like Josh Johnson.
Against Venezuela in day six of the ISF World Championship, Johnson started in the circle and he batted number four in the batting order.
