Three home turns in the fifth innings helped the Black Sox to an early finish against the Netherlands, overcoming the Europeans 11-0 at the World Softball Championships in Auckland.
Captain Rhys Casley, outfielder Wayne Laulu and designated player Patrick Shannon went long in quick succession, as New Zealand piled on eight runs in their final at-bat, ending the contest under the mercy rule.
Starting pitcher Jeremy Manley completed five efficient innings on the mound, allowing just three safe hits and taking 11 strikeouts.
