USA, Great Britain, Samoa and Czech Republic all 3-3
The author of an article posted today at the British Softball Federation did his homework and breaks down the won-loss records of the four teams in Pool A tied with 3-3 records, and vying for two playoff spots (6-0 Australia, and 4-2 Venezuela have the other two)
“Going into the final day’s play, GB, the United States, the Czechs and Samoa are all sitting on 3-3 records. Samoa has beaten GB and the US. The Czechs have beaten Samoa but lost to GB and the US. GB has lost to Samoa, beaten the Czechs and plays the US tomorrow. The US has lost to Samoa, beaten the Czechs and has yet to play GB.”
New Zealand time:
11.00am Great Britain Vs United States
2.30pm South Africa Vs Samoa
5.00pm Australia Vs Czech Republic
Oddsmakers would rate the USA vs. GB a toss up, favor Samoa over South Africa and make the Czech Republic an underdog against the only unbeaten team in the tournament, defending champions, Australia. But before you write off the Czechs, remember it was just yesterday that Samoa had Australia on the ropes, leading 2-1 going into the last inning.
It will be an interesting day, to say the least.
