From the prairies to the Atlantic — the Prince Albert under-16 and under-18 Astros are competing in the 2014 Fast Pitch Canadian Championships this week.
The U-18 Astros team is competing in Gander, Nfld. from Aug. 5-10 while the U-16 team is playing in Fredericton, N.B. from Aug. 6-10.
The U-18 team flew out to New Brunswick on Saturday and Sunday. According to coach Robyn Nagy, the players were excited to be travelling to the eastern part of the country.
About half of the team knows what it’s like to play in a larger scale tournament as some players have gone to nationals in previous years.
“Our veteran players know what it’s going to be like,” Nagy said. “For the other half of our team, it’ll be a whole new experience.” Click here to continue reading at Prince Albert Daily Herald.
