KITCHENER — The weather and the Bloomington Stix rained on the Kitchener Hallman Twins’ parade Monday.
The skies opened just as the scrappy Stix from Illinois staged a four-run sixth to claim a 4-2 victory over the stunned Twins in open-division play at the International Softball Congress world tournament.
It marked the biggest upset of the tournament so far as the No. 14-ranked Stix knocked off Kitchener, ranked No. 3 here.
The host Twins have dropped their second game at the world tournament on the last three occasions in which they played host to the event, in 2006, 2007 and again this year.
They’ll now have to battle back through the losers’ bracket, starting Tuesday at noon when they face the Sooke, B.C., Loggers. Click here to continue reading at The Record.
