KITCHENER — The George Steinbrenner of Canadian men’s fastpitch is back in business at the International Softball Congress world tournament.
Following a lengthy hiatus from elite fastball, Jack Fireman, the man who delivered the first ISC world titles to Canada, has returned to the game.
The outspoken Fireman, a semi-retired Toronto trial lawyer, bankrolled the Toronto Gators to a couple of world titles in 1993 and 1995.
His new team, also known as the Toronto Gators and ranked No. 4 here, is off to a perfect 2-0 start following Monday’s 3-0 victory over Randy’s A’s from Invermere, B.C.
