Newfoundland’s Colin Abbott, considered one of the best — if not the best — fastpitch softball hitters in the world is one of six individuals who will be inducted into the International Softball Congress Hall of Fame next year.
Abbott, from Portugal?Cove, who has retired as a player, helped teams to three gold medals at ISC tournaments — in 1994 with All Car of Green Bay, Wisc., and 1999 and 2007 with Farm Tavern of Madison, Wisc. — collecting eight all-world player honours, three?MVP awards and one batting title along the way.
Joining Abbott in induction will be Terry Challis (player), Dean Holoien (player) and Gary Baughman (administrator/umpire), along with Jack Fireman and Nick McCurry, both are entering in the Bob Welby Memorial Award/recognition of service category. Click to continue reading at The Telegram.
