The California A’s suffered their first loss in the ISC World Tournament, 2-1 to the PA Power, to fall to 3-1 and into the loser’s bracket. The A’s will play again tomorrow, at 4pm EDT (1pm on the west coast), against the winner of the 12 noon EDT game between the Kitchener Hallman Twins and New York Swashbucklers. By the time the A’s take the field on Friday, they will be one of only 6 remaining teams from the original field of 48.
PA Power pitcher Ramon Jones of Venezuela was dominant, surrendering just one hit while striking out 17 and walking none. PA Power scored a run in the first inning on a double and single, and added the eventual game winner on a home run by Manuel Godoy. Josh Johnson had the lone hit for California, and came around to score on an infield error with two outs.
In the other winner’s bracket semi-final, reigning the ISC World Champions, Hill United cruised to a 10-3 win over Scarborough Ontario. Hill United will play PA Power in the winner’s bracket final Friday night.
The tournament is down to its final two days, with just 8 teams still battling for the ISC World title. Hill United and PA Power are the only two teams still unbeaten. California and Scarborough ON suffered their first losses today and will await the winners of tomorow’s first set of loser’s bracket games, Kitchener v. NY Swashbucklers, and NY Gremlins v. Kegel Black Knights of North Dakota.
