Australia wheeled out their big pitching weapons to telling effect to beat New Zealand 1-0 in the final of the Oceania men’s softball championship.
After dominating the round-robin phase in Auckland, the world champion Black Sox batters failed to fire in Saturday’s final.
They struggled against Adam Folkard and Andrew Kirkpatrick, who deliberately hadn’t been used when the teams met twice in the leadup – games won 6-0 and 9-5 by New Zealand.
