Outfielder Jeff Ellsworth will wear his third different uniform of the softball season starting this afternoon in Quebec.
The St. Lawrence native is playing with Nova Scotia’s East Hants Mastodons at the six-team Canadian senior men’s fast pitch tournament in Ste-Claire and St-Gervais.
Fellow national team player Jason Sanford asked Ellsworth if he was interested in playing with the Mastodons earlier this summer.
“I’ve been playing against most of them for years at the nationals and the Eastern Canadian loop,” said Ellsworth, the lone Islander playing in this year’s tournament. “I know probably 90 per cent of the roster.”

“We want to go and get double life going into the weekend,” Ellsworth said Wednesday morning. “You want to get confidence and the momentum going early, so the first day is key.”
