The East Hants Mastodons were a few outs away from a Canadian senior men’s fast-pitch title on Sunday in Quebec.
The Mastodons fell 4-3 to the defending-champion Galway Hitmen of Newfoundland and Labrador in the gold-medal game.
Up 3-2 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning, East Hants allowed a sacrifice fly to Jason Hill and an RBI single to Colin Walsh for the deciding runs.
Craig Manuel and Aaron Harvey homered for East Hants in the loss. Jay Duffy had three singles.

Mullaley, Hill & Ezekiel win WBSC, Pan Am, ASA, ISC and Canadian gold, a feat likely never to be duplicated. Sean Cleary got the win, giving him three golds this year.
Had the East Hants been able to hold onto the 6th inning lead, Jeff Ellsworth would have been the lone member of the “5 Gold” Club.
