According to his mother Marene Tweedie, the James Hargest College student who has also represented Southland at touch and athletics, had to make a difficult choice.
“Hockey has always been his passion, unfortunately this year the tournament for Southland hockey and going to Australia were in the same week, so he had to make the tough decision between hockey and softball, and decided to go with softball at the moment and see where he goes with that,” she said.
The year-10 student not only gained selection in the ISA, but is also in the New Zealand under-15 developing sox softball squad, which means attending camps and playing in trial games throughout the year, with a North Island versus South Island televised match as a curtain raiser to a Black Sox game a highlight so far.
