Editor’s Notes:
Two teams have advanced to the Winner’s Bracket Final Four, with wins last night, #1 Kitchener Hallman Twins (winner over #8 Circle Tap) and #4 Bear Creek Express (winner over #5 Grande Prairie).
Meanwhile, four more unbeaten teams vie for the other two slots in Winner’s Bracket Final Four tonight, with #2 New York Gremlins taking on the #7 AWP Lumberjacks. The Gremlins were recently voted the team most likely to win the 2022 World Tournament in a recent pol.
In tonight’s 8pm nightcap, California’s entrant #6 J&B will face #3 Hill United. J&B knocked off Hill United a week ago, at the USA Softball Nationals, with a 6-4 come-from-behind victory. Hill’s Zach Pierce took the loss in that one, while J&B’s Yusef Davis, Jr., the Pride of Long Beach CA was 3-for-4 for J&B.
In the Elimination Bracket, the top-ranked teams include #5 Grand Prairie Pirates, who played tough in their 3-1 loss to Sean Cleary and the Bear Creek Express last night. The Pirates made Cleary work through a high pitch count, but couldn’t get the key hit to cash in their opportunities.
#8 Circle Tap, likewise, played top ranked Kitchener close, falling by an identical 3-1 score.
#10 Toronto Batmen are still alive, coming back to win a couple games after losing early in the opening rounds.
#9 Omma Tigres from Midland Texas became the highest ranked team so far to be eliminated, falling to #13 AHI Reapers. Omma lost an earlier winner’s bracket game against #8 Circle Tap.
#11 Kegel Black Knights were also eliminated, suffering their second loss yesterday to unranked San Antonio Glowworm. Kegel lost earlier in a winner’s bracket match-up against California J&B.
