The New York Gremlins won two more games on Sunday, to capture the 2023 Chief’s Challenge in Simcoe Ontario Canada. The Gremlins eliminated Bear Creek in the morning semi-final, having lost to Bear Creek 3-1 on opening night.
The Gremlins advanced to the tournament’s championship game, facing the host, undefeated Hill United. The Gremlins jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but Hill United stormed back with 4 runs, including a two run home run by tournament MVP Nick Shailes for a 4-3 Hill United lead.
Blake Hunter struck the big blow, a grand slam home run in the top of the 6th after the Gremlins had tied the game at 4.
Pablo Migliavacca pitched 4 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.

Game 5 – Semi -Final – NY Gremlins 3, Bear Creek Express 1
Both teams were strong in the circle Sunday, but NY Gremlins defeated Bear Creek Express 3-1. Jack Besgrove allowed just five hits to Bear Creek Express.
In the second inning, NY Gremlins got their offense started when Zenon Winters singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Bear Creek Express knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the third inning, when Quinten Bruce’s sac fly scored one run for Bear Creek Express.
NY Gremlins pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Bryan Abrey tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Besgrove pitched NY Gremlins to victory. Besgrove allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out ten and walking one.
Justin Schofield took the loss for Bear Creek Express. The bulldog allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking zero.
NY Gremlins totaled six hits in the game. Winters and Erick Ochoa all had multiple hits for NY Gremlins. Ochoa and Winters each collected two hits to lead NY Gremlins. NY Gremlins was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Nick Mullins made the most plays with ten.
Jordan Pomeroy led Bear Creek Express with two hits in three at bats. Bear Creek Express was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Ryan Boland had the most chances in the field with 11.

NY Gremlins stole the lead late in the game in an 8-4 victory over HILL UNITED CHIEFS on Sunday. The game was tied at four with NY Gremlins batting in the top of the sixth when Blake Hunter homered on a 2-2 count, scoring four runs.
HILL UNITED CHIEFS scored three runs in the third inning, but NY Gremlins still managed to pull out the victory. BRADLEY EZEKIEL and NICK SHAILES all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
NY Gremlins got on the board in the first inning. Jerome Raemaki hit a solo homer.
Pablo Migliavacca got the win for NY Gremlins. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on three hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one.
DANIEL CHAPMAN was in the pitcher’s circle for HILL UNITED CHIEFS. CHAPMAN allowed five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out five and walking zero. MICHAL HOLOBRADEK and ADAM FOLKARD entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.
Andrew Kirkpatrick started the game for NY Gremlins. The lefthander surrendered four runs on five hits over two innings, striking out two and walking zero
NY Gremlins hit three home runs on the day. Raemaki went yard in the first inning. Erick Ochoa had a four bagger in the first inning. Hunter went deep in the sixth inning.
NY Gremlins tallied ten hits on the day. Zenon Winters and Ochoa each managed multiple hits for NY Gremlins. Ochoa and Winters each collected two hits to lead NY Gremlins.
JOSH MCGOVERN went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead HILL UNITED CHIEFS in hits. HILL UNITED CHIEFS didn’t commit a single error in the field. MCGOVERN had the most chances in the field with ten.
