2011 SCIFL Season
Costs
Costs will remain at $410 per tournament and $400 for Las Vegas. The one-time a season registration fee will remain at $20 and payable at a team’s first tournamentHernandez made comment that an additional $25 will be paid to Manny Lopez to take down the new fence on Saturday night and put back up on Sunday morning to prevent theft.
Hernandez mentioned that for the final weekend the Sports Complex in Hemet is reserved. However, they are asking for a non-refundable fee and this tournament has been cancelled many times in the past. It was decided that we would forgo the reservation in Hemet and try to secure the Soboba fields for the tournament as there won’t be that many teams playing.
Formats
The format will remain the same with a four game guarantee that consist of a 3 game round robin on Sunday and single elimination on SundayHernandez mentioned that due to Santa Fe Springs changing their billing policy and having to pay the Monday prior to a tournament will make the following necessary:
Teams will have to commit by the Saturday prior to the scheduled tournament as the schedule has to be created by MondayThe practice of having “dead” fields during the day to prevent triple headers will no longer be used. He will ask for volunteers to play the triple headers if necessary and if no one wants them a drawing will take place to select the team(s). Teams dropping out of the tournament after Monday will still be responsible for the tournament fee as the park will not provide refunds.
Team must be ready to play 30 minutes prior to their scheduled game time, Hernandez reminded everyone that round robin games would go no longer than 9 innings. After 9 innings the game will end in a tie and each team will receive half a point.
Las Vegas will continue to be a 3 game guarantee using the NAFA bracket.
Locations
6 tournaments in Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe Springs will charge a “trash” fee this year for events which is refundable if the park is left in the same manner it was used in.
Hernandez mentioned that managers need to stress to their players to pick up after themselves. If the teams leave trash and the league loses its deposit, the $250 would have to be absorbed by raising the entry feeIt was also recommended that the team hosting the snack bar for the weekend check the park both nights before leaving to make sure trash is picked upHernandez also requested the park place additional trash cans in the park.
The issue of players coming to the park with their dogs was brought up and that while the majority pick up after them, there are a handful that don’t. All players need to pick up after their dogs or leave them at home.
