August 5-8
South Bend, IN

The Circle Tap Fastpitch team traveled to South Bend, IN for the ASA Men's
major national championships over the weekend. The team came away with a
very disappointing 3-2 record(39-10 overall)and a 3rd place finish. We
did, however, see some good things. The pitching seems to be back and if
we can get the hitting clicking on all cylinders this team will be very
dangerous in Fargo, ND for the World Tournament. Chris Delarwelle(1st
team), Tom Montgomery(2nd team) and Robbie O'Brien(2nd team) were named to
the All-American team.

Game 1
Thursday 7PM

#4CT 1 Vandalia, IL Freight 0

CT 1 4 0
VF 0 0 0
Robbie O'Brien tossed a no-hitter and cashed in 18k's with one walk in
earning the victory. CT left 9 men on base but did manage to push a run
across in the top half of the 7th inning to take the victory. Adam
LaLonde led off the 7th with a base hit, stole 2nd and with two out Robbie
O'Brien smashed a base hit up the middle to score LaLonde. LaLonde
finished 2x3.

Game 2
Friday 6PM

#4CT 5 #19 Lafayette Pub(St. Louis, MO) 0

CT 5 5 0
LP 0 1 2
Dewey Dyck took the ball and threw a 1 hit shut out striking out 16 and
walked just one. CT grabbed an early lead in the 1st as LaLonde led off
with a base hit, stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a ground out and scored on an
error. CT tacked on another in the 3rd on a Chris Delarwelle home run.
The final 3 runs came in the 7th as Kevin Reichardt launched a bomb well
over the 300ft slowpitch fences. With one out LaLonde reached on an
error, stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a passed ball and with two out
Delarwelle hit his 2nd homer of the game. Delarwelle finished 3x4 2HR
4RBI. These two teams will meet in the ISC World Tournament as well in
pool play.

Game 3
Saturday 10AM (winners bracket semi-final)

#4CT 7 #13Fred's Interiors(Quad City, IA Sox) 1

FI 1 2 0
CT 7 6 0
Robbie O'Brien picked up the win tossing the 2 hitter, both hits to Nick
Needham, and struck out 18 while walking two. In the bottom of the first
Adam LaLonde led off with a walk, was sacrificed over by Chris Miljavac
and scored on a Delarwelle base hit for the early lead. CT tacked on 3
more in the 2nd as Tom Montgomery led off with a base hit, stole 2nd,
moved to 3rd on a passed ball and with two out Darren Derricks drew a
walk, stole 2nd and then LaLonde followed with a 3 run bomb to make it
4-0. Fred's would put up a run in the 3rd to cut the lead to 4-1 but CT
would answer with 3 more in the bottom half. With one out Robbie O'Brien
walked, Don Garvey singled and Tom Montgomery would knock them both in on
a two run triple, he would later score on a passed ball. Delarwelle 2x3,
Montgomery 2x3 3B.
These two teams will also meet in the ISC World Tournament in pool play.

Game 4
4PM Saturday (winner's bracket final)

#4 CT 0 #2Farm Tavern 6

FT 6 7 0
CT 0 4 1
This would be a re-match of last year's ASA Finals with The Farm coming
out on top in this one. Five home runs by 5 different players helped The
Farm earn the victory. With The Farm up 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd,
Robbie O'Brien singled and with one out losing pitcher Dewey Dyck singled
followed by a Montgomery walk to load the bases. Farm pitcher Paul Algar
was pulled and Dean Holoien entered the game and shut the door. Anyone
who has been around the ball park this year can not argue that Holoien is
bar none the hottest pitcher. It will be awful tough to beat him in the
ISC's. Chris Miljavac finished 2x3 3B.
WP:Dean Holoien LP:Dewey Dyck(13K)

Game 5
8PM Saturday (loser's bracket final)

#4CT 0 #3Broken Bow, NE Spirit 1

BB 1 6 0
CT 0 5 0
This was a tight game throughout. Broken Bow scored in the 3rd on a 2 out
RBI base hit by Frank Perez. CT had opportunities to score as it stranded
6 runners including runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out in the 4th. Tom
Montgomery 2x3, Jess Ellestad 2B
WP:Gerald Muizelaar LP:Robbie O'Brien(13K)

CT next sees action in the ISC World Tournament in Fargo, ND that runs
from August 13-21. 40 of the best teams in the world will be competing
for the illusive World Title. CT's first game is not until 8PM Sunday
night vs Quad City Sox. Other pool play games for CT are 10PM Monday vs
Ricart Pro's of Peterboro, ON, 2PM Tuesday vs Lafayette Pub of St. Louis,
MO and 2PM Wednesday vs Ballerup Vandals of Skovlunde, Denmark.
