WINNIPEG, Manitoba - The Markham Jaguars put their hot bats to work in
a 4-1 victory over the White Rock Renegades to become the Bantam Girls
Canadian Fast Pitch Champion.

The Jaguars took their first opportunity to show their offensive
prowess, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Sonya
Petrosoniak opened up the flood gates with a dribbler down the third
base line good for three bases.

The Renegades' bats could barely keep up with blazing pitches from the
Jaguars' Jenna Caira.  Their hits met a solid Markham defense when
they were able to break the nearly flawless pitching.

White Rock looked to rally a few times throughout the game, but was
unable to capitalize on strong base running.

Finally, in the top of the seventh, White Rock's Jillian Sask stole
home for the Renegades sole mark on the board.

The Markham Jaguars, White Rock Renegades, and the Brampton Blazers
were presented with their gold, silver, and bronze medals respectively
at a ceremony inside the John Blumberg clubhouse just in time to
escape a heavy downpour, like the one that caused a five-hour rain
delay earlier in the day.

Markham's Jenna Caira was picked as the top player for the playoffs.
