A's open Intermediate C's with win

FREDERICTON, N.B. - The Alberton Arms Pub Athletics opened the 2004
Intermediate 'C' Eastern Canadian Championships here with a hard fought 5-4
win over Bar Extra.

The A's sit at 1-0 and tied with Bar Extra for first. Alberton plays three
times on Saturday in a six hour span starting at 1 p.m. when they face the
Oromocto Mooseheads before a 5 p.m. game against the Hoyt Schooners of New
Brunswick and then a 7 p.m. night cap under the lights when they battle the
Renous Marlins of New Brunswick.

Leading the A's was Chris Avery at the dish while Mitch Hardy pitched a gem
on the slab in leading Alberton to the win.

Jake's Kitchen of Charlottetown played a noon time and 10 p.m. game. No
details of their results are available.

There was no word on how well the Summerside Greco Twins were faring at the
Intermediate 'B' Eastern Canadians in Whitney Pier and Reserve Mines, Cape
Breton, N.S.
