Keswick, ON

This past weekend marked the completion of yet another year of Keswick 
Sunday Morning Fastball at West Park. The Championship final saw a rematch 
of last years with the top two teams in the league The Bandits and the 
Georgina Merchants squaring of for the championship. The Bandits took game 
one of the series with a convincing 5-0 win Chris Neal had a great game on 
the mound giving up only two hits. Game two was played Sunday morning with 
the Bandits jumping out to an early one nothing lead. The lead held until 
the 6th inning when with two runners on John Zeiger hit a two out double 
scoring both before later scoring himself on a passed ball. The Merchants 
took game 2 by a 3-1 score Rick May went the distance getting the win while 
Danny Hunter's great effort was wasted in the loss. The series once again 
came down to a third and deciding game the two teams took the field on 
Sunday afternoon with each teams winning pitchers getting the call. Chris 
Neal was roughed up early, lead off man John Zeiger took him deep on the 
second pitch of the game for a moster home run Brad Copping followed with a 
solid single up the middle and Matt Osborne reached first when he couldn't 
get out of the way of Neal fast ball. Todd Hamblin cashed Copping from 
second sending a change up into the gap over short and later came around to 
score. The Bandits clawed back scoring 3 runs in the next 3 innings, before 
Matt Osborne sealed the victory with a two run homerun in the sixth. The 
Bandits didn't quit but with runners at second and third in the seventh 
Rick May dug down and retired the Bandits leading the Merchants to victory 
and to give them the Championship for the Third Straight Year. Other 
Results from the weekend included the Blue Jays defeating the Expos in the 
B division, The Devils took the C division over the Crunch and the Stiffs 
beat Miami in the D division.
