Prince George, British Columbia

We are pleased to announce the formation of the Prince George Black Bears 
Senior A Mens Fastball Club, the host team for the 2006 Canadian Senior A 
Mens Fastball Championship. Black Bears Club President is Dale McMann, past 
president of Softball Canada and a member of Softball Canada and Softball 
BC Hall of Fame. Black Bears Coach Nino Fabro, coached the Prince George 
River Kings to a fourth place finish in the 2002 Canadian Senior A Mens 
Fastball Championship.
The core of positional players, the former River Kings, were a power at the 
Canadian and North American Native Fastball Championships. The Black Bears 
also signed pitchers Colin McKenzie and Kevin Careless of Victoria.

The goal of the Black Bears is to build a contending team for next year's 
Nationals in Prince George and  develop softball at the local level. The 
Prince George club will take to the tournament trail this summer, beginning 
with  the Portland Rose Cup at the end of June. The Black Bears will host 
the  Vancouver Grey Sox July 1and 2 in Prince George.
